Nolan was born and raised in small town Texas, where part-time cattle ranching began to invigorate his love of the outdoors and caring for others. He graduated from Parker University College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Tx, and immediately moved to Washington State to practice as an associate at Harbor Life Chiropractic. ​
